1) WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR GREATEST STRENGTH(S)
RELATIVE TO YOUR PROFESSION AS A MAKEUP ARTIST?
I would have to say that my greatest strength as an artist is making women feel beautiful and glamorous, without going over-the-top. I like women to feel comfortable in their own skin, including the skin on their faces that is covered in makeup! I think sometimes a woman's makeup can end up "wearing her", and the makeup is the first thing that enters a room before she does. I would hate for a client to feel uncomfortable and therefore, less than confident. I do like to try and coax women outside of their comfort zones, but I think baby steps is the best approach for trying to change a woman's look, or perception of her look, that may be outdated.
2) WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR GREATEST WEAKNESS(ES)
RELATIVE TO YOUR PROFESSION AS A MAKEUP ARTIST?
I think a weakness of mine as a makeup artist is that I like to spend a long time on a woman's makeup. I tend to be a little perfectionistic when it comes to my "creations", and for business purposes, I know I will need to streamline and shorten my times a bit. Also, I would like to learn how to really do brows to fit the client's face shape. I feel I would really benefit from some basic brow training. I would also love to learn how to do eyelash extensions. Another weakness is probably that I don't do a lot of avant-garde, extreme, crazy makeup. I have done some crazy theatrical makeup, but theater makeup is entirely different from real-life makeup.
3) WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR "NICHE" (THE AUDIENCE OR ENVIRONMENT THAT IS BEST SUITED TO YOUR TALENTS /
ABILITIES OR FOR WHICH YOU HAVE THE MOST PASSION?)
I would have to say that my niche is really all women who are seeking a little "wearable" glamour. I really enjoy doing makeup for brides and wedding parties, as well as makeup for special occasions such as proms/formals, holiday/birthday parties- anytime a woman wants to look truly special and fabulous. I also LOVE to do mini-makeovers on women who don't really do much with their hair or makeup. Seeing a transformation happen before your eyes is probably the most exciting part of this profession.
